By now you have probably heard of the term staging. There are more than a dozen shows on TV that talk about how important this practice can be when selling your home. The term "staging" refers to a method of decorating that is designed to showcase the home's best assets, impress buyers and sell it quickly for the highest possible price.
Because not all sellers stage their homes – especially homes in lower price ranges – you'll be at an advantage if you do. Staging can be as simple as repurposing the furniture you already have. Decluttering and depersonalizing your current decor is also a key part of this process to make your home more neutral so the new buyer can picture living there.
Although staging is optional, it really shouldn't be. When you're dealing with such a significant financial transaction, you don't want to be lazy and settle for a lower selling price or a longer marketing period than you have to.
I offer all my buyers a free 30 minute consult with Homfusion (a local staging company) when they list their homes with me at BlueCoast Realty Corporation. Even if you choose not to use their services they can still lend you some good advice about what you can do on your own to get your home "buyer ready".
